Our adaptive learning and e-Learning analytics product, IADLearning, got featured on an interview at E-LEARN magazine given by our Research and Development Director, José Antonio Omedes.
On the interview, titled “Putting Heart and Intelligence into e-Learning” different issues, impacting the current development of e-Learning technology, are discussed.
In particular, Jose Antonio refers to the the following relevant elements:
- The difficulty of transforming offline content for its online use at a viable cost.
- The low engagement of online students driven by the fact that they are usually offered generic content not tailored to their real learning needs.
- The lack of analytical information enabling educators and teachers to perform proactive actions having real impact on the ongoing learning processes.
These elements are the main drivers of the interview by E-LEARN magazine which focuses around adaptive learning technology. We highlight two key fragments of the interview:
“the e-learning will continue to take over and grow, and will continue to change people’s lives […] However, he does make the point that e-learning can’t continue to be separate and be standardized. It needs to fit everybody’s individual needs, and this is the only way for e-learning to have a real future and growth.
“teaching is about putting your heart into what you are teaching, weather it’s inside a classroom or through a computer screen. If a teacher doesn’t put in his heart and intelligence into his teaching in order to make their class as good as possible, then it’s never going to work. But he also explains that for teachers who do use these analytics (the ones provided by IADLearning) intelligently, there can be no better tool to achieve excellence amongst the students.
The interview at E-LEARN magazine also discusses the global partnership signed by iTopTraining (the company developing IADLearning) and Blackboard Inc. Thanks to this agreement, IADLearning will be part of Blackboard Learn and Moodlerooms ecosystem of partners, meaning that all IADLearning features will be available for those LMS users.
